AARP Party

Just had my AARP Party This Sunday May 1st. Well it's better late then never!
Sent out of 12 invites only 6 showed, but I think it worked out better with a small group. My party theme and goal was to collect food for struggling seniors who are face with the grim choice: whether to skip meals, or choose cheaper, less nutritious foods so they are able to pay their rent and/or buy the medicines that keep them healthy. I sent out a small list of foods for everyone to bring. In turn they recieved the wonderful gifts from AARP and a home made luncheon (bacon and swiss cheese Quiche, fresh fruit salad, and spinach salad and cheese cake for desert) I sure did collect alot of food just for it being only 6 of us. Seniors sure do have their pride and never complain unless it is to very good friends, so this is how I was able to track down 2 seniors that were in need. At first, they thought there was a catch to free groceries. But after coming to their homes, leaving the groceries and giving them a little conversation and a big hug. I won them over, and plan to return with yet more groceries. A happy ending for me and my new friends ;-)
