This was certainly one of the best parties I have ever hosted. Preparing the food was so much fun, because the whole family got involved. It started with my dad cutting vegetables and slicing sausages, then my husband crushing tomatoes for me, for my sauce. My brother made the huge Antipasto Salad and cup cakes, while I stuffed mushrooms and put the lasagna and riggitoni together. What a great bonding expierence it was for our entire family. Guests started arrive, and as each sat down to eat, I had them feel out my questioner which asked 3 basic questions: 1. Can you tell me which dish has the whole wheat pasta? 2. Can you spell the cheese that I sprinkled about? 3. Name the 3 flavors of Johnsonville Italian Sausage I used today. You would think that #2 was easy, but it was fun to hear several say, "I can't even say it, let alone spell it." Each person who participated got a prize. My Aunt Beverly won the Johnsonville Hot Pad Holder and she was so excited. I was cute to see. As we ate, I had each person sitting in the kitchen tell me what there favorite dish was and why. I also asked them what they would to do the recipe to tweek it. Here are the responses: Favorite Dish: The Lasagna, because the flavor was fantastic, the noodles were perfect and not hard, the sliced JV MILD sausage was tender. Everyone said they would not do anything to change this dish. Next Favorite Dish: The JV Italian Sausages/Peppers and Onions. The only thing one guess said they would do different was use more yellow peppers. I was so please at how the peppers cooked up and did not shrink a bit. Least Favorite Dish: Rigitoni, because the noodles were to big. Two guest said that they would of cooked the noodles a bit longer. One guest said I should of NOT tossed the noodles with the bit of Olive Oil that I did. Over all, everyone had a great time, and those who came were please with the recipe books that I gave them and more so for the coupons for the $1.00 off JV Italian Sausages. Now for my favorites: I love the sausages and the pasta was the easiest I have EVER cooked with, and I will never go back to my usual brand. I used every drop of the Olive Oil, using most of it in a homemade dressing for the salad. This party was perfect in every way and I was lucky enough to have leftovers for each person to take home a carry out container that I had purchased at a warehouse store. My camera's battery went dead before I got all the pictures I wanted, but I think those that I did, represent each aspect of the entire party. Thank you Johnsonville and House Party!
